Hello friends... Good morning! It's been a moment since the last time I wrote, but there's so much currently going on in this world that I just had to take a moment and step back. So many drastic things happening all over the world, and I'm praying for you.. whether you believe in a God or not, I hope you take comfort in the fact that there are good people out there who are willing to help. Yesterday, I heard some news that have been roaming rumors for quite some time... that Trump was trying to end DACA. This upsets me, because this not only affects my family, but a lot of my friends as well. So people text "RESIST" to 50409 today and inform your senators and house representatives to DEFEND DACA. If you didn't know, DACA is a workers permit. This is not a "free ride" to college. DACAmented immigrants do not qualify for FAFSA, pep grants or even student aid. Having DACA also means you pay taxes and even add to the social security taxes and don't ever see any of it. DACA is not free education. Undocumented families pay taxes like everybody else on their homes and jobs and STILL pay for schooling or get private scholarships. DACA is not a pathway to citizenship, but temporary relief, one that is under attack. You should defend DACA because it's helped 800,000 immigrants including some of your friends, coworkers, and maybe even your family. Most people who are currently relying on DACA in order for them to continue to work and go to school in a country they were RAISED in. A place they have yet to be able to call home, because of people like Donald Trump and his administration. There is currently no pathway to citizenship for immigrants and they do not "CHOOSE" to be undocumented. There is no "line" outside of the White House where they wait for citizenship. You should DEFEND DACA until there is comprehensive reform. Neither DACA or the DREAM ACT is "amnesty." Immigrants go through comprehensive background checks and requirements to even be CONSIDERED. Save DACA, because even with all the setbacks and obstacles... 800,000 undocumented young people have moved forward. 95% of DACAmented people are currently working or in school. Though, I'm grateful that I was lucky enough to be born an American citizen... I am aware that there are so many people around me that are struggling with this news, so AS an American citizen, I will fight for your rights and I will defend DACA.
XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO
